BIO: Carol Gyzander writes and edits horror, dark fiction, and science fiction—twisted tales that touch your heart. Her short story, “The Yellow Crown,” is in Under Twin Suns: Alternate Histories of the Yellow Sign, from Hippocampus Press. This weird fiction anthology, edited by James Chambers, explores the madness of Robert W. Chambers’ classic work of weird fiction, The King in Yellow (1895) and those under the sway of the Yellow Sign.

Recent anthologies with stories include Across the Universe: Tales of Alternative Beatles, edited by Michael Ventrella and Randee Dawn; Stories We Tell After Midnight from Crone Girls Press; The Devil’s Due from Valhalla Books; and The Lost Librarian’s Grave: Tales of Madness, Horror, and Adventure from Redwood Press. Her cryptid novella, Forget Me Not (April, 2022) is from NeoParadoxa, an imprint of eSpec Books.

Carol co-edited the Even in the Grave ghost story anthology with James Chambers, coming summer 2022 from NeoParadoxa. As the Editor of Writerpunk Press, she’s proud to have edited four charity anthologies of punk stories, two of which were inspired by Poe and classic horror. Most recent is Taught by Time: Myth Goes Punk.  

She’s a lifelong volunteer and was a fifteen-year scout leader. Carol is Co-Coordinator of the Horror Writers Association (HWA) NY Chapter and co-host of the monthly HWA NY Galactic Terrors online reading series. As HWA Chapter Program Co-Manager, she helps support chapters in the US.
